Eden McCutcheon Tirl

Recording The Wages, NYC 2018

Eden is a Los Angeles based author, editor and writer of memoir. She too reads scripts, and is a sometime singer of karaoke. She believes a kind heart is the most relevant virtue. Can’t live without blue jeans, well-worn boots, interior design, North African textiles, and white cotton sheets. Loves intensely the works of Ntozake Shange and Joan Didion.

Her chapbook kneaded was published in 2018. The afterword for the re-release of The Wages, also published 2018. Eden has often been a contributor to FilmBook and is the executive editor of notablySmitten.com.

She lives in the City of Angels with her husband Henry and their two ravenous kittens, Yedna and Dvoyka.

"Fanny Howe's novel [based on a true story] has the clarity and concision and the narrative force of a fable... And like all good fables, it's endlessly complicated, a deceptively simple story wrapped in racial, historical, and economic ironies...It tells us that America's originating sin is the profit-making entanglement of race and slavery, whose tainted return, both economic and spiritual, is still being paid out today." — Russell Banks
